Affordable park and ride possibilities in Amsterdam
Park and Ride gives drivers the opportunity to park at convenient locations around the outskirts of Amsterdam. The P+R locations are often located near highways and key roads through Amsterdam and have excellent connections with public transport.
The Park & Ride locations throughout Amsterdam function as they do anywhere. You are able to park relatively cheap in combination with the use of public transport. You arrive, park your car, buy a return ticket to the city centre and back and go on your way. Please note that the public transport tickets you buy at the machines are much more expensive than when you would use the Dutch OV card.
The downside of this system is that you are not able to simply go to your car using your bike or by walk. Meaning, for people that use their car on a daily basis, the parking gets quite expensive.
Pay attention that sometimes there are separate entrances for P+R users!
Amsterdam municipality tracks the amount of free parking spaces in the P+R facilities, which can be found at www.amsterdam.nl.

The Dutch OV-Chipcard
The Dutch OV-Chipcards (public transport cards) are pretty much a pain in the ass, especially for tourists. For more information, have a look at our OV-chipcard page.
